TPO Displays today unveiled a 1.8-inch QQVGA low-temperature poly silicon (LTPS) TFT LCD panel, adopting the smallest die size IC for the QQVGA LCD panel segment, according to the company.
The 1.8-inch module features 128x160 resolution at 262,000 colors and has standard CPU and RGB interfaces. TPO has already secured orders from several leading handset makers. This QQVGA solution adopts one of the smallest IC driver sizes in this market segment, creating a possibility to optimize on cost.
The display is available for mass production.
The year 2007 is expected to be a banner year for the telecom industry, as mobile phones are expected to top the one billion mark. According to DisplaySearch, shipments of LTPS TFT LCD modules are taking an increasingly important position for both main displays and sub-displays for mobile phones.
